Hey guys!
Just thought that since I'm running for a Trustee and (hopefully) earning hundreds of your votes, I should outline why it's important you put your support behind me and not one of the other three candidates. Here are my top five...
1) I'm not afraid to talk to you: Obvious as it is, not all candidates will be brave enough to talk to you and voice your concerns personally to the board. As your representative down at the Board offices, you want your candidate to speak both his and your mind. You can contact me here, through my email (andrewhilson@yahoo.ca) or through Twitter (www.twitter.com/andrewhilson1). If you care about your ideas being heard by the top people, I'm your guy.
2) I'm from the North: We're talking balance here. The other three candidates are from Oakville. For those of you in the North (Milton, Halton Hills), I'll clearly have a better idea what's going on up here. And that'll reflect in my work down at the Board offices. For those of you in the South (Burlington, Oakville), don't discount me yet. You don't want (insert-large-number-of-angry-Northern-Students) from whining you out because they think you're the only person getting any service. Socrates, the great philosopher, was all about debating different viewpoints, coming to a conclusion after lots of good discussion. I'll provide that conversation at the Board, and nobody else is.
3) I have lots of varied experience: If you haven't already, you can see my resume here. I've done lots of good and different - it's not all related to one club or field - volunteer work and extracurricular (while maintaining my average, may I add). You want your Trustee candidate to be able to relate to you in as many ways as possible. My many experiences make that possible.
4) I don't like B.S.: I hate politics, I hate beating around the bush, I hate crap. You won't see me pussy-footing around the issues that are important to you. Well, that'd be too hard to do. Screw that! I believe in results, I believe in action and I believe what concerns you should be top priority down at the Board Offices. Did I say that well?
5) I'm lots of fun: Seriously. You don't want a snob to represent you, do you? I mean, really. Not only will it chill you out, it'll probably alienate the Board and everyone else I deal with. Luckily for you, that's not me. I enjoy nothing more than a school dance, or community dinner, or game of tennis or playing Civilization IV (we've all got a geeky side). And how about The Blues Brothers for a movie?! I mean, that's how you spend a Friday night! You want someone who can get the job done with a smile on his face. This isn't work for me, it's life. And life is fun. You can quote me on that!
